The Tweed Run is being held for the fourth year in a row on Spetses, from 21st to 23rd April 2017. The island fills with vintage bicycles and their stylish riders, come to enjoy the beauty and aromas of Spetses at this most glorious time of year.
In winter Spetses returns to calm and prepares for the new season. The approximately 4,000 permanent residents rested and regroup, so they are ready to welcome the thousands of visitors who will come in the summer.
The 300-year-old Mansion of Bouboulina, with its Florentine carved ceiling in the Grand Salon, has functioned as a museum since 1991, when it was opened to the public by the descendant of Laskarina Bouboulina, Philip Demertzis-Bouboulis and his family, in their attempt to save the building from collapse.
The island of Spetses with its rich history and seafaring traditions plays host to the Spetses Mini Marathon for the 6th consecutive year. This year’s events take place from 7th to 9th October. With the island’s policy prohibiting the use of private cars, it is the ideal location for this great sporting event!
Each September, this spectacular event brings the scent of Revolution to the island of Spetses. Thousands of visitors flock to the island to witness the re-enactment of the Battle of Spetses in September 1822, known as Armata.
The Museum of Spetses is housed in the mansion of Hatziyiannis- Mexis, one of the great leaders in the years of struggle during the battle for independence from the Ottoman Empire.
This glittering event, now in its sixth consecutive year, took place over the long weekend of June 30th to July 3rd. Over 70 vessels participated this year, watched by crowds of visitors.
The beach of Ayioi Anargyri is the largest on Spetses. Beautifully pebbly but with a sandy seabed, the beach is well organised with beds, umbrellas and water sports, but at the same time manages to retain a calm atmosphere
Located near the beach of Ayios Anargyros, Bekiri’s Cave is a unique spot of natural beauty. It has been used many times during the island’s history as a place of refuge, most notably during the 1821 War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire, and again during the Nazi occupation of WWII.

Now in its fourth year, Spetsathlon 2016 is underway! The ultimate sporting experience for competitors and fans alike, the weekend of 13th – 15th May sees our beautiful island play host to top tri-athletes and hundreds of sports-fans from all over Greece and beyond.
For the third year running, the elegance of classic cars came to Spetses. The Poseidonion Grand Hotel, in collaboration with FILPA (Greek Federation of Old Car Lovers) once again played host to a plethora of beauties.
On Spetses, as on other Greek islands, the Easter celebrations offer the visitor not only the deeply devout religious character of the holiday, but also the rejuvenating sensations of spring. The whole island is a lush green, flowers everywhere are in bloom and their heady perfumes are carried all over on the sea breeze.
